How Ascale Hotel was born: Laura Carrillo

Interior designer Laura Carrillo gives an exclusive talk at Ascale, in which she presented her vision for the luxury suite designed in collaboration with the brand. During her talk, Laura delved into how her proposal fused luxury, sustainability and advanced technology, three essential elements that defined the project presented at MIAD 2024. This event, held at the historic Plaza de Toros de Las Ventas in Madrid, was the perfect setting for this proposal that honors tradition and celebrates the cutting edge of design.

Neo-Mudejar design: where history meets modernity

In her talk, Laura explained that the project was inspired by the neo-Mudejar style, a Madrid architectural reference that combines Arab and medieval influences. This approach allowed her to incorporate terracotta tones and architectural elements that evoke the city’s rich history. His goal was to create a space that paid homage to the historic surroundings of Las Ventas, while integrating contemporary materials and innovative technologies to redefine modern luxury. This blend of classic and modern is what gives the suite’s design a unique personality.

A highlight of his proposal was the recurring use of the circle as a design element. This symbol, present in the Ascale logo, manifests itself in various details: from the art-deco flooring to the circular skylights on the ceiling to the curved Pianca sofa. According to Laura, the circle represents harmony and fluidity, essential qualities for creating a space that invites relaxation and natural movement, a key detail for the atmosphere of the project.

Ascale Sintered Stone: Luxury at the service of design

Ascale’s large-format porcelain tiles have been a source of inspiration for the interior designer, who has managed to imagine big and highlight the versatility and elegance of these materials in the most sophisticated environments.

The materials used, such as Laurent Black, Borgogna Silver, Boreal Umber and Macchia Vecchia Gold, add sophistication and functionality. The brand logo, with its characteristic circle (similar to the “A” in Ascale), acts as a connecting thread in the space.

This symbol is integrated into various elements and tonalities, such as the imposing art deco-style circular design on the floor, which combines the main materials of the project: white Macchia Vecchia and black Laurent Black, creating an atmosphere of great harmony and luxury.

Advantages of using ascale material

In her reflection on contemporary luxury, Laura emphasized that it is not limited to opulence, but is based on quality, refined details and comfort. The suite was designed to offer minimalist luxury, where each element contributes to a sensory experience of well-being without overloading the space. Beyond the materials and technology, what defines this project is the ability to generate a complete emotional experience for those who live it.

Ascale sintered stone is an extremely versatile material, ideal for cladding furniture, walls and other surfaces. Its ability to make precise cuts makes it perfect for adapting to any design, allowing for seamless integration into a variety of projects. This flexibility allows the material to fit different style and functionality needs.

In addition, sintered stone is highly resistant, ensuring its durability even in the most demanding environments. It is able to withstand daily wear and tear without losing its aesthetics, making it a reliable choice for projects seeking materials that combine elegance and strength.
